Surfside Breakfast
Surfside Breakfast (with Andrew Starr) aims to get the Northern Beaches' listeners' day started with "songs you wouldn't hear on the radio". We "give the hits a miss !" As in, you won't ever hear "Sultans Of Swing" by Dire Straits, but you will hear a song from that album. So yes it's a music based program. I bring stories or notices about Northern Beaches issues or upcoming events and aim to interview locals about their lives/goings-on. Each week around 7.45am, I do a phone interview with Roy Harris - a humorous piece he delivers from an overseas destination, whilst always flying the flag of the Northern Beaches and its people. I also am running a "Bring back Tommy" (to the Northern Beaches) segment, trying to build up a push to bring this Australian music icon back to our LGA (his old stamping ground) to hopefully perform and inspire young children to "pick up a guitar".

Strange Brew
A clue to the music you are liable to hear can be found in its title, 'Strange Brew' drawing its name from a song by 60s supergroup Cream. John's passion for weird and wonderful rock music from the 60s and 70s may occasionally veer towards the norm, but more often than not wildly eclectic choices will emerge from a limitless collection. Fittingly to go alongside wigged out music from the golden era of prog-rock is a suitable low key and laconic presenting style, this is what night time radio always used to be like. A presenter who puts great care into creating the atmosphere for his show, John splendidly insists on turning the studio lights off and bringing in a spot light, leaving many to wonder quite what is going on in there. Strange indeed.
