HOW TO GET INVOLVED
You can become involved in Radio Northern Beaches in many ways. You can become a member, a broadcaster, a friend of the station, a sponsor, and/or a listener.
To become a broadcaster on Radio Northern Beaches, the first step is to enrol in our quarterly introductory workshop which is booked through Humanitix website.
Radio Northern Beaches offers a quarterly Radio Skills Workshop which is a great introduction to radio broadcasting whether your interest is as a career, to become involved in community radio or just for something fun to do for a day.

ABOUT THE RADIO SKILLS WORKSHOP
The Radio skills Workshop is a fun and engaging introduction to a wide range of radio broadcasting skills, presented by your local community radio station, Radio Northern Beaches.The radio course is aimed at:
- people who are interested in potentially presenting their own weekly show at Radio Northern Beaches,
- people interested in broadcast media as a career,
- or anyone looking for a fun and challenging weekend experience.
The day includes sessions covering:
- What is community radio?
- The fundamentals of interviewing and practicals.
- How to plan and create a radio show
- The fundamentals of broadcast presentation and panel operation
- An introduction to digital audio editing
- Experiential sessions on microphone technique
- Hands on, interactive, small group session
- Live outside broadcast experience
- Behind the scenes roles in radio operation
- At the end of the day everyone participates in a live to air show!
No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. All ages from 15 upwards. Retired people are welcome.
After completing the workshop, participants are welcome to join Radio Northern Beaches and make a regular radio program or be involved in other aspects of operating the radio station (regular membership fee applies). Free formal training is provided for members, 1 night a week for 4 weeks to get started.
Free lunch and morning tea is provided.
Maximum 16 participants per workshop. Minimum of 6 people for the workshop to run.
(If less than 6 people are enrolled, the workshop will not go ahead and refunds will be issued)
Please note an enrolling student between the ages of 15 - 17 yrs old must be accompanied by an adult for the day.
Radio Northern Beaches is a community radio station for the Northern Beaches community and run by, the Manly-Warringah Media Co-operative. All of the members are volunteers. Funds from this training go directly to the operation of the radio station.
